This trowel was developed for age-friendly tools brand SKC in 2004. Sprout's inclusive design user research methodology led to the new shape for a handle. The splayed front part fits between the thumb and first finger, making it easier to apply force forwards. Trowels are also turned upside down and used vertically.

A snap-fit is used to allow disassembly for recycling, or the separate replacement of trowel head or handle should one break.
